Interested in learning more about the Aya Quran Academy?

  • The Aya Quran Academy will begin for the first time in the Fall of 2024. This new initiative will provide Aya's current elementary students with the opportunity to deepen their Quranic studies through a traditional Hifdh program following the regular academic day under the supervision of a main Hafiz’/Hafiz’a with certification (Ijaza) and assisted by additional Hafiz’at with a track record of dealing with students.

  • This program is offered for current students enrolled in Aya's Elementary program ONLY. Parents are assigned an AQA Interest Form on Transparent Classroom upon enrollment. For more questions, email AQA@ayamontessori.com.

  • $225 per month, per child. Sibling discounts available!

    1. What is the class size?

Class size can vary but will remain at 15 students per teacher.

    2. How much one-on-one time will my child have with the teacher?

Each student will spend between 10-15 minutes with a teacher; the remaining class time will be spent working with a teacher assistant, individual review, or reviewing with a partner.

    3. What does my child need to wear to class?

Students should come in their modest Aya uniform and attire that they are able to pray in and read the Quran in, showing respect to the class and their teacher(s), and peers. For boys: long pants below the knee. For girls: wide pants, long sleeve polo and a hijab.

    4. What supplies does my child need to bring?

Students should come prepared with a 15-line Uthmani script tajweed Mushaf and/or Noorani Qaidah, their provided recording sheet, and a pencil. We have given recommended links in the Parent Handbook which can be found on the Parent page.

    5. Will my child have a break for snack?

All students will have the opportunity to have a snack before dismissal and before the start of class to ensure that they are ready for the start of class.

    6. Will my child sit on the ground like in a traditional hifdh class setting for the duration of the class?

Students have the opportunity to choose from flex seating options. However, when reading/reciting to others, students are expected to sit respectfully in front of the teacher/peer to read/recite. If students are found not to be respectful of the class with their choice of flex seating, the teacher will redirect the student to choose a better solution.

    7. If my child is placed in the Pre-Hifdh track, is there a possibility to move up to the Hifdh track?

Yes, but changes in the student's track is dependent on progress, which will be regularly communicated to you by the teacher.

    8. How is my child assessed and placed in a track?

Each child is given the same benchmark assessment, which asks questions about current Quran reading/reciting habits, contains a short reading assessment, and 3 short spot memorization assessments from suwar that have been previously memorized.

    9. What is the class time?

Classes are held Monday-Thursday. On these days, Pre-Hifth Track class will begin at 3:30 PM and end at 5:00 PM. For the Hifth Track, class begins at 3 PM and end at 5 PM. Students are expected to be prepared with wudhu and all their necessary supplies at the start of class time.

Note: School closes at 5 PM. All students must be picked up from the main entrance by 5 PM.

    10. Can my child be picked up early?

Students are expected to be in class for the full hour and a half. If early pickup is needed for appointments, please send an email to AQA@ayamontessori by noon. In case of emergency, please send an email at your earliest convenience.

    11. Will my child be assigned homework?

Yes, new lessons are assigned daily. If a student does not have their lesson(s) prepared or their revision needs more practice, a new lesson may be delayed until the next day.

    12. As a parent, what can I do to help my child?

Setting a revision schedule is KEY! Children thrive on a schedule and creating a personal schedule for them at home is beneficial to maintain a rhythm. Studies show that a schedule and regular repetition also aid in memory retention.

Being involved in your child's revision is also extremely helpful. Children love having moral support, and if they feel supported in their Quranic journey, they are more likely to flourish.
